The Cine Zoom 70-300m along with the Cine Zoom 20-50mm launched earlier this year belongs to the “飒 (Sa) Series". Their focal lengths added up cover so large a range that most of the needs in filmmaking can be theoretically satisfied. The main features of the 70-300mm are as follows:

- Full frame cine zoom

- Zero distortion all through the zoom range

- Superior control of breathing effect

- Super high resolution kept from the centre to the edge

- Excellently parfocal

- Highly suppressed glare

Spirit Lab Zoom 70-300mm T3.2 is targeted to high-end and high-quality creation of films, TV series, online dramas and other projects of such. The lens meets the need in that creation efficiently and uncompromisingly with its characteristic full frame, zero-distortion, imperceptible breathing effect and high resolution which help to rebuild the reality in a non-stylised but high-quality way, transmitting images with less loss either in composition or colour.

Ray Chang, the General Manager of Spirit Lab Optics, makes a detailed introduction of the new member of Spirit Lab product line:

How to describe this lens?

——————————————

"It's a spherical zoom with a large front diameter that reaches 156mm, a fast aperture of T3.2 and a close focus of 1.2m from the image plane. According to our internal data, this is the largest and weightiest civil lenses in China. Actually, the "飒 (Sa) Series" is made complete with this 70-300mm and the previously announced 20-50mm, and it is the first zoom series ready to be shipped at any time."

What's the advantage of this lens?

——————————————————

"The biggest advantage is its availability. Next, the release of this 70-300mm means we have zooms covering from 20mm to 300mm, a range able to meet the major need for focal length. We do have some customers asking for a 400mm or 500mm. I would say, that's possible and we'll see. Some friends who have used lenses of a larger focal length range and a wider aperture opening than those of Spirit Lab 70-300mm T3.2 might wonder how it stands out. I would answer with three points: first, it has a superior control of breathing effect; second, it delivers high-resolution images from centre to edges; and third, the lens is stable in operability with its smooth and accurate rotation of F/T/Z drive. Here's a RED Monstro VV Camera (See video below). Let's do the focus magnifying, and this is how it looks at 300mm and this, 70mm. Let's then switch to the normal focusing of 70mm and 300mm. You can see how excellently parfocal this lens is during the zooming."

What's the image style of this lens?

——————————————————

"I would say the 70-300mm has no style, or a style without a style. Our philosophy is to send much detailed information of the location, angle, space and colour of an image to the sensor as truely as possible. Some experienced cinematographers understand us and give similar comments, saying we capture real images."

Up to date, Spirit Lab has released full-frame lenses including "秀 (Xiu) Series" (primes 15/24/35/50/85/100/135mm), "飒 (Sa) Series" (zooms 20-50mm and 70-300mm) and "韵 (Yun) Series" (anamorphic zoom 40-100mm). Such a large group of lenses could serve most filming projects, but Spirit Lab would not end here. It's going to bring more excitement to the industry!
